Grants Awarded to Local Fire, EMS Companies, Announces Scheuren

HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) today announced nine fire and EMS companies that serve the 147th District are set to receive grants from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).

“This funding is fantastic news for our local fire and EMS companies,” said Scheuren. “As a longtime supporter of our firefighters and EMS workers, I know how much this funding is needed, how much it helps and how much good it will do."

All companies must first file a grant agreement with OFSC, but all that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. The organizations that received grants are as follows:

• Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service – $15,000.
• Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Co. – $16,322.
• Harleysville Emergency Medical Service – $15,000.
• Harleysville Community Fire Co. – $16,322.
• Lower Frederick Fire Co. – $28,322.
• New Hanover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services – $28,322,
• Upper Frederick Fire Co. – $15,891.
• Upper Pottsgrove Township Fire Co. No. 1 – $16,322.
• Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Co. – $15,246.

Eligible projects for this funding include plans such as the construction or renovation of a company facility, the purchase or repair of equipment, the training of staff or the reduction of any existing debt the company may have accumulated. All funding comes from slot machine gaming proceeds and not the General Fund tax revenue.
