Scheuren Announces Grants for Two Local Transportation Projects
February 24, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) today announced two projects in the 147th District received grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).
Funds from the MTF may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancements, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
The two projects are:
- Lower Salford Township has received $449,250 to add a turn lane and sidewalk along Oak Drive.
- Upper Pottsgrove Township has received $301,500 to improve safety at the intersection of Cherrytree Lane, Gilbertsville Road and Sprogels Run Trail.
“This is excellent news for both Lower Salford and Upper Pottsgrove townships, and I was happy to throw my support behind both projects,” said Scheuren. “In Lower Salford, traffic often backs up into residential areas on Oak Drive when folks are turning right onto Main Street. In Upper Pottsgrove, we’re connecting residents to hiking trails, fishing ponds, open space and beautiful gardens, while ensuring high-tech modifications include flashing beacons and thermal detection to alert motorists to the new crosswalk.
“Sen. Tracy Pennycuick and I teamed up to request funding for Upper Pottsgrove’s project in its entirety, which is valuable since this funding will complete important plans to make our roads safer, more efficient and improve access to recreation,” said Scheuren.
