Scheuren Announces Funding Secured for Parks in Lower Salford, New Hanover Townships

January 13, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) announced today that Lower Salford Township and New Hanover Township have both been awarded grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) as part of an $82 million investment.

The projects receiving funding are:
- New Hanover Township will receive $250,000 for continued development of the New Hanover Township Park. Work will include the construction of an internal loop trail; pedestrian bridge; stormwater management measures and parking area; ADA access; landscaping; project signs; and other related improvements.
- Lower Salford Township will receive $250,000 for rehabilitation and development efforts at Alderfer Park. Work would be focused on the installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping, project signs and other related site improvements.

“This is an excellent investment into our communities here in the 147th District,” said Scheuren. “Lower Salford will be adding 6,000 square feet of ADA-accessible play equipment, while New Hanover will establish 2 miles of multi-use trails connecting over 500 homes. I believe the enhancements to both parks will foster a sense of community and have a positive impact on countless families for years to come.”

These grants are administered by DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2). The C2P2 program supports recreational improvements, natural resource conservation, and community revitalization efforts.
